Wood-Fired Pizza Ovens & Masonry Heaters

A wood-fired oven cooks with stored heat. A dome of firebrick sits on an insulated hearth, a small fire raises the temperature to the heat of an old brick oven and the masonry then holds that heat for hours. Getting the shape, the thickness and the insulation right is what makes it cook well.

We build domed pizza ovens as part of outdoor kitchens or as freestanding features clad in stone, along with bread ovens and masonry heaters that warm a room with long, even heat. Many Nashville backyards now have an oven as a centerpiece, and we design the base, the chimney and the finish to match the rest of the patio.

FAQ

Common questions about pizza ovens & heaters

How hot does a wood-fired oven get?

Properly built ovens can reach cooking heat for pizza in under an hour and hold it long enough to cook several meals.

Does the oven need to cure?

Yes. New masonry holds water and needs slow, small fires first. We guide the process.

Can a pizza oven be built into an outdoor kitchen?

Yes. We often build the oven into the same structure as the island.
