Brick & Stone Patios

A patio looks good on the first day and shows its quality ten winters later. The difference is underneath: excavation to the right depth, a compacted stone base laid in lifts, a screeded bedding layer, edge restraint and a surface sloped gently away from the house so water never settles against the foundation.

We build patios in clay brick, tumbled pavers, natural flagstone, bluestone and cut limestone, in patterns from running bond and herringbone to random flagstone with tight joints. Around Nashville, clay soil swells and shrinks with the weather, so base depth and drainage are planned with extra care, and we blend the patio into steps, seat walls, fire pits and planting beds.
