Natural Stone Masonry

Real stone masonry is a craft of fitting. Each stone is chosen for its face, its depth and how it sits against its neighbors, then set on a solid bed with mortar worked into every joint. Done well, a stone wall looks both rugged and finished, and it can stand for generations.

We work with Tennessee limestone, fieldstone, river rock, flagstone and cut stone, and we build freestanding walls, arches, gate piers, bridges, steps and structures. Around Nashville and the rolling country beyond it, stone sets a house into the land, and we match the stone, the color and the laying style to the property.

FAQ

Common questions about natural stone

How do you build a stone wall that lasts?

A stable base, full mortar beds, stones laid in staggered courses and a proper cap. We also plan drainage so water does not build up.

Can you use stone from my property?

Often yes. We look at what you have and tell you whether it is suitable, and we can supplement with matching stone.

What is the difference between dry-stack and mortared stone?

Dry-stack walls rely on fit and weight and suit low walls. Mortared walls can go higher and carry more, and we explain which suits your project.
