Lintel & Arch Repair

Above every window and door, something carries the brick. Steel angles rust and swell, pushing the brick above them up and out, and arches settle and crack when their support moves. The signs are cracks stepping up from the corners of an opening, a visible sag and rust stains on the brick.

We shore the wall, remove the damaged brick, replace the lintel with a galvanized or stainless one with proper end bearing and rebuild the brick above with flashing and weep holes. We also rebuild brick arches, both jack arches and rounded ones. Many older Nashville homes have rusting lintels that deserve attention before the wall moves further.

Common questions about lintel & arch repair

Why is the brick above my window cracking?

A rusting steel lintel often swells and pushes the brick. Settlement can also crack brick at the corners of openings.

Can a sagging arch be saved?

Sometimes it can be repaired, and often it is rebuilt with proper support. We inspect and advise.

Is a lintel repair urgent?

It can be, because the lintel carries the wall. We assess how serious it is when we inspect.
